2010 'Main Street Nights' entertainment announced
The 2010 "Main Street Nights" series kicks off in Downtown Park Forest on Wednesday, June 23.
The opening program will feature students from Fieldcrest School of Performing Arts at 7 p.m., followed by the top performers from the Park Forest Idol Contest at 7:30 p.m. A selection of songs by the Beatles, Bon Jovi, Journey, and U2 will be presented by 7th Heaven beginning at 8 p.m. The group also performs original works.
Other programs scheduled for the series include Chicago Boyz Acrobats and R-Gang on June 30; Spear-It Drum & Dance Troupe and the Rich East Drum Line on July 7; Ken Schultz and Creole Stomp on July 14; Disc Dogs A2Z and Dave Rudolf on July 21; the reptilian education show "Cold-Blooded Creatures" and a performance by Guitarra Azul on July 28; and a performance by Soda, followed by a showing of the movie "Up" on August 4.
Park Forest Youth Day scheduled for August 28
The annual Park Forest Youth Day will be presented in Downtown Park Forest on August 28.
The event is sponsored by the Park Forest Youth Commission and will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Theme for the event is "Back to School."
Fourth of July event planning underway
Planning for the annual Park Forest Fourth of July festivities are underway.
As in previous years, the program will include a parade, followed by fireworks at dusk.
The Park Forest Police Department is coordinating the event.
